Super Great Weekend

I had such a great weekend with my parents! Their flight came in around 8am Friday morning and I took the day off to pick them up and maximize our weekend time. We had an early lunch and then did some shopping (well my Mom and I shopped while Dad found things to do).

We hung out at the house a bit, walked the dogs in the park, and picked Erik up from work. That night we had dinner at Thyphoon and my parents enjoyed their first thai food experience! Mmmm, curry.

Saturday we went to the dog park, hiked around trails near the house, did some baking, and enjoyed a nice dinner at home. Sunday their flight left around 5pm, but we found time to check out the Hoyt Arboretum (its HUGE!), go out to lunch, and do a little shopping at Ross. It was so nice being with my parents and showing them around Beaverton/Portland. Unfortunately Erik didn't participate in any outdoor stuff because his big toe hurt...seems a little silly but it apparently really hurt.

Another highlight of the weekend is that I acquired my Grandparent's Kitchenaid mixer, which is 27 years old and works great! I love it for two reasons: 1) Its a kitchenaid mixer! 2) I can think of my Grandma and Grandpa every time I use it. It was my Grandpa's birthday yesterday, it would have been his 86th, and so using it to make pumpkin pie with my mom was extra special.

I will have to wait until I can get pictures from my mom's camera because I didn't take any!

This is getting rediculous!

I've really got to get back on the blog wagon here, I keep falling off into a lazy oblivion of procrastination! I realized today while I was ordering photos from Costco that I haven't gotten pictures printed since last Halloween; one year ago! So I figured while I was at it I'd get my butt in gear here too.

This weekend has been very relaxing because we had no plans! It was really great catching up on things around the house and spending time together. Last weekend Meeka and Shane came over from Spokane and we had a great time checking out downtown, doing a little shopping, going out to dinner with the gang, visiting a pumpkin patch, and going to the dog park. Although it was just a couple days, we managed to cram a lot in. I'm hoping to get some pictures from our adventures very soon.

The weekend before that we (along with Sarah, Ryan, Todd and the dogs) went down to Eugene to stay with Kristin. It was a great weekend. We went to an amazing corn maze one night that was huge and "haunted". We also met up with some of Kristin's coworkers for some drinks. Kristin and I went on a fun hike with dogs and got in lots of girl talk.

We didn't really do anything for Halloween, but ten trick-or-treaters showed up! Next weekend my parents will be here and I am so looking forward to it! I have all sorts of plans on our agenda.

I'm baaaaaack

These past couple of weeks have flown by. So I guess I'll start at the beginning......

Erik's parents were in Portland up until this past Thursday. We had such a great time with them, and their friend Ian. Johanna spent a lot of quality time with Captain and Miss Pup before Roy and Ian got in town. Erik and I didn't get to take any time off, but we fully enjoyed the weekends and evenings with our guests.
One day we went downtown....

Another day we went to Multnomah Falls with the dogs....
Roy, Ian and Johanna also explored a lot on their own. I think they all know their way around Beaverton now.

Today Erik and I did some shopping at the mall and then drove to Sellwood to get a beer with my boss and his wife, as well as pick up four free Seahawks tickets from them! Erik, Ryan, Todd and their newly transplanted friend, Shawn, will be driving up to Seattle tomorrow to catch the 5 o'clock game. The seats are awesome and best of all its all free!
It was such a beautiful fall day today that I decided I had to take pictures while we drove around. I also decided Sellwood is an awesome place and is definitely on our list of places to move next summer.
oooh new haircut

Well I started this post yesterday (Saturday) and will finish it today. The boys headed up to Seattle around noon and I started the day off with some grocery shopping and then a little bit of much more fun shopping at the mall (I only spent $19 I swear!). After that I took the dogs to the dog park. There were about 10-15 other dogs and they all had a blast!

Miss Pup of course had a very outwardly affectionate admirer (a rather ugly chocolate lab) that Captain tried in vain to fend off. At the end of the outing Pup was covered in slobber, so the next stop was Pup a'razzi to get a bath. Oddly enough, their credit card machine was broken so it was a free bath!
I had to include this picture of Johanna playing Guitar Hero, which was the most hilarious thing we witnessed all week

Poor Boy

This weekend was less eventful than planned, but still fun. Sunday we were going to drive up to Seattle with Kristin and meet up with my brother. Erik had a ticket for the Seahawks game, which he was really looking forward to. However, he came down with the flu on Saturday and was sick all weekend!

yes, he really looked this pathetic

It was pretty disappointing, but Kristin still came up on Sunday and we went downtown and had a fun girl's outing. As for Erik, he spent the whole weekend sleeping, watching football, playing video games and milking his condition for all it was worth. I even gave him a little bell to ring for assistance when he was in bed. Little did he know that the musical sound it produced was just easier to ignore than him pitifully calling for me.

at a neat bar called "The Virginia Cafe", not a cafe at all

Eye Candy

I totally forgot about this great picture I took of Erik while he was finishing up some work one day. Isn't he a cute little scientist?

Low Key

Its Sunday evening already? Even when we don't do much at all the weekends are never long enough. Saturday morning I walked Miss Pup over to Puparazzi and gave her a super good bath. She has never liked baths but she always behaves wonderfully. And now she's fluffy and freshy clean! Later Erik and I did some shopping, I went to Ross while Erik checked out Best Buy and Joe's. I felt guilty because I took so long, but once I found out Erik spent more I didn't feel so bad.

Saturday night we went out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory for Sarah's 25th birthday. That was really fun but I didn't bring my camera or phone! Darn it. You'll just have to trust without photographic evidence that we had a great time. After dinner (and of course dessert) we went to Sarah's apartment (which was really cute) and played Egyptian Ratscrew followed up by dominos. That's the first time I played dominos and it was really fun.

Today I finished up a painting project I started Saturday while Erik watched football all....day.....long. Literally, that's all he has done today.

Erik's nightstand
(well its on his side of the bed, but its filled with my stuff)

the side, I guess I should have painted the drawer too! Should I paint it blue or beige?

my nightstand, I need to find cuter knick-knacksThe scroll is on the sides and back too

Here We Go Again

Hmmm, where to start. Friday was pretty low key for me; I relaxed after work while Erik saw "Shoot 'em Up" with the boys. Saturday morning my brother arrived from Tacoma for a fun filled weekend. :) We (Ben, Erik, Todd, David, and Shari) went downtown to the Saturday market. It was fun looking at all the homemade crafts and food there. I wished I had about $200 to spend though.
Deep in thought on the max
I'm caught!
Why is he so difficult?
a very still, very pink lady
His belt buckle says "Elvis"After that Erik went to the batting cages and frolfing while Ben and I did some grocery shopping and later made a delicious steak dinner. Around ten we went to see "3:10 to Yuma". I absolutely loved the movie, the acting was awesome and you really can't go wrong with Christian Bale.

Ben had to take a power nap before the movie

Today Erik watched football all day with the boys and Ben and I took the dogs on an adventure through the forest. They had a good time playing in a creek and sniffing through the bushes. Then I had my first Noah's New York bagel for lunch, mmmm tasty.
Captain goes exploring

I shall call him "Nature Man"Pup loves murky water

I'm trying to look serious while wearing a funny hat
I also found a great vintage dresser at a used furniture store and spent some time sanding and painting it. The blue was a little brighter than I planned, but I really like it anyway. I need to do some touching up, but it looks pretty good in the pictures.

The drawer fronts are blue (obviously) and the rest is a very light beige
I love the wavy drawers
