Who turned up the heat?

Ok this heat is a little rediculous, but I'm not complaining yet. Especially considering rain is in the forecast for the coming week. Friday was close to 100, Saturday was mid 90's and today was a comfortable 85 (I think).

We took advantage of the heat by catching a little sun poolside with the boys and Sarah, going for a fun hike with the dogs (the forest was refreshingly "cool"), jogging today when it had cooled down a little, and washing the car really really quickly.

I also did a little shopping this weekend. What is it about warm weather that makes me want to spend money? I'm not sure, but it was fun!

Ok, I'm done with you, rain.

What is up with this weather? Last weekend seems like a cruel joke now. Its currently quite chilly, gray, and of course rainy. The sun did manage to come out yesterday off and on, but overall the weather is quite unpleasant.

We did manage to have a good weekend, however. Got some requisite weekend shopping/errands done, I started an herb garden, and finally vacuumed out the car. Speaking of vacuums, I don't think I've mentioned that we got a glorious Dyson Animal DC17. Yes, its called an animal because it practically is! Its an awesome machine and actually managed to get all the dog hair off stubborn Jetta apholstery. You know you're an adult when you get excited about buying (and using) a vacuum.

Anyway, back to my herb garden. It actually consists of four pots, not exactly a garden. My neighbor brought me a potted chive, which inspired me to get the rest. So I now have oregano, basil, chive, parsley, and thyme. I also bought two tomato plants (roma and something I don't remember). Now if only the sun would come out.

Right now they are inside due to the previously mentioned weather, but there is a cute little table by the front door just waiting for the honor of holding the herb garden. I left the pathetic little tomato plants (lets hope they grow, A LOT) outside for now, they seem to be doing fine so far. This is the first time I've grown such things, and considering my track record with house plants (not good), lets pray for a lot of sun and warm weather very soon.

The great outdoors

What a great weekend! Yesterday we enjoyed clear skies and VERY warm weather. Sobo, Todd, Erik and I (and the dogs of course) headed up to Pier Park in the afternoon. An intense game of Frolf ensued, with Todd coming out as the victor. I just followed the boys around, taking caring of the dogs and takin lots of pictures.

Today Sarah came over and took some great "engagement pictures" of Erik and I out in the park. We found some neat backdrops and got quite a few good ones. Thanks Sarah!

Babies and such

This weekend I went to my cousin's wife's (cousin-in-law?) babyshower in Oregon City. My cousin Theresa was there, Aunt Annie, baby Ellie, and of course the mother-t0-be, Jerilyn. Jerliyn was glowing and happy. It was neat to see her go from not pregnant at all (which was the last time I saw her) to considerably pregnant!

It was a lovely shower with a few games, prizes, delicious food, and lots of gifts. I think the baby has a wardrobe that he'll grow out of before he gets a chance to wear it all. Jerilyn liked the sleeping sack and booties I gave her.

The shower was Saturday so Erik had to fare without me for a few hours, but we made up for that on Sunday when we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and started our registry! It was so fun walking around the store picking stuff out. I am most excited about the beutiful china I found. I since added/deleted on their website, which is much easier (but not quite as fun). It was a good weekend!

Happy Easter!

I've been meaning to update the blog with some pictures from the past couple weeks. But, we'll start with this weekend.

Friday was Erik's last day at Test America so he went out to Rialto's with Todd and a few of his coworkers. I was going to attend the drunken night of pool and bar food, but my back was hurting so I stayed home and watched really bad TV.

Yesterday we slept in (Erik much later than me), and I spent much of the day cooking and baking. I had invite Sarah, Ryan, Todd and Jen over and the menu for dinner was: Risotto, corn bread/jalapeno scones, delicious green salad with raspberry viniagrette, and chocolate mint brownies for dessert. After dinner we watched I Am Legend (I thought it was OK) and digested the tasty meal (if I do say so myself).

Today was the first Easter that definitely did not feel like Easter. I slept in yet again, had raisen bran, and went to church at noon with Ryan and Sarah. Erik and I went out to lunch at Panera (so good) and spent the afternoon not really doing anything. Well we did get the handy-dandy weight bench put together, but not much else.

Backtracking to a couple weeks ago, I drove down to Salem to visit Kristin at her parent's house. Kristin, her mom, and I went to get manicures at a nearby salon (always a good time) and then visited the capital building. I thought the golden statue of a random pioneer was pretty cool, but apparently everyone thinks it looks like a bowling statue (hmmm, I guess it kind of does). I also like the Iraqi Freedom memorial and the big round yard with each state's flag.

Backtracking to a few weeks ago, we went to a Blazer's game and had a fun time. I mostly enjoyed the over-priced nachos, but as long as fun was had, what difference does it make?

Erik was getting annoyed I kept taking pictures of us
happy again!
not sure what's going on, and don't care

Oh and we decided to be environmentally friendly and ride the max to the game, which was fine on the way there. Unfortunately everyone and their mother had the same idea, and for much of the ride home I felt like a claustrophobic sardine....but I survived.

Another Beautiful Day

And another lackadaisical weekend! Yesterday the dogs got much needed baths at Pup 'a Razzi. We had fun, they did not. Erik and I did a little shopping and got a few things done around the house.

Earlier today we went out to breakfast with Sarah and Sobo at the Black Bear Diner. I decided that fresh squeezed orange juice might be the best beverage out there (I don't care if it was $5). My pancakes were also amazing, they had a special ingredient I couldn't put my finger on, maybe buttermilk or vanilla.

After a very satisfying meal, Erik and I took the dogs to the dog park. They of course had a blast, but Captain was a bit naughty (chasing dogs and biting at their butts). Everyone came out of it alive and unscathed, so I can't compain too much. Here are a couple pictures.

Its been a while...

and that's because we haven't done anything too exciting in January and February. We've been working and hanging out and not much else. Of course Valentines day is next week (as well as our 5-Year Anniversary!), I'm sure that will prove to be fun.

I got up today and let the dogs out only to be greeted with the most beautiful day we've had in a long time. It is so warm (maybe about 55-60 in the sun), clear skies, and subsequently no rain! A day such as today just puts me in a good mood.

Sometimes there is nothing better than having a weekend without plans, well besides plans like eating out at a cool looking oriental grocery store/restaurant, getting our hair cut, and general stuff like that.

I have been making wedding plans in my spare time and have so far only found my invitations (which I've decided not to make, well probably not). Our goal this weekend is to make a list of all the possible wedding locations and call them next week. Hopefully we'll have a place booked by Friday!

I'll try to find some photographic opportunities this weekend to liven up this post.
